Ezra returns the laugh, but can’t help feeling a slight fear in the back of his mind of it coming true. “Just don’t have the baby when I’m not here.” he jokes. “Yeah, I think we should head out now before the traffic becomes heavy.” He looks outside the window, noticing more cars than there were earlier. “You can grab a snack before we go if you want. I don’t my baby to be hungry.” Picking up his keys and wallet from the counter, Ezra slides them into his pocket, “Ready.”
Aria laughed, shaking her head, but feeling anxious over the possibility of it coming true. “I think you’ll have to talk to the baby about that one.” She grinned, patting her stomach a bit and headed over to the kitchen. “I’ll just have a banana. Baby needs to be healthy.” Walking back over, she followed Ezra out the door and down to the car, climbing in. “What happens if I don’t get this job, Ezra?”
Ezra smiles, imagining the crib in it’s place. He kisses the pout off of Aria’s lips, “I know it sucks, but that’s the hand we were dealt. We’ll be fine.” He throws his arms across the girl, embracing her in an intimate hug. “Yeah, you could go hang out with your mom and the girls.” Ezra stands up and walks over the hangers on the wall and pulls off his jacket, sliding it onto his body. “Dinner sounds lovely.”
Aria returned the kiss and nodded. “Just dont be working when the baby is coming.” She winked playfully and chuckled, getting up once more. “Should we head out now? We might get done sooner, who knows. And I may or may not be starving. But then again im almost always hungry. ” The brunette grabbed her bag and headed over to the door. Her phone vibrated and she saw that she had a new text from a blocked number, but she didnt open it. “So…ready to go?”
Ezra looks around the apartment, also trying to decide where to put the crib. “What about over there?” he points to the small space between the windows and their bed. “That way the baby can be close to us when we sleep and we won’t have to walk far in the middle of the night.” he suggests. “I would like to come to all of your visits, especially the important ones, but I might have to miss a few here and there due to my job.” He feels a bit sad that he won’t be able to join her on all the trips to the doctor’s. “Ah, that’s great! I’d love to, if she doesn’t mind my being there.”
"Hmm…I think that’ll work for now." Aria smiled and got up, throwing on a hoodie. A small pout formed on her face and she sighed. They would have to make those sacrifices with this new job. "Im not ready for all these late staff , meetings but I could probably visit my mom while you’re at work." The brunette walked back over to the bed and wrapped her arms around Ezra. "She wont mind at all, love. It shouldnt take long either so what if we got dinner afterwards?"
Ezra stares across the room at the wall, lost in his thoughts about A. He needed to talk to someone else about this, without Aria finding out. He couldn’t speak with any of her friends, because they would just go run and tell Aria about his suspicions. Maybe Hanna or Spencer’s mom? Mrs. Hastings could definitely help with her criminal justice background. But she most likely wouldn’t believe his word over her own daughter’s, which would ultimately result in Aria found out. He didn’t want that to happen. He needed to speak with someone not associated with the girls, but who would be interested in the case. Ezra is shaken from his thoughts at the sound of the all too familiar voice talking to him. What did she say? Oh, Hollis. “It’ll be a little awkward at first, but hopefully we can work together without someone attacking the other.” He ignores her question about his thoughts.
Aria couldnt help but chuckle a bit, but sighed and looked around the apartment. “I still have no idea where we’re going to put the crib. We’ll have to save up a bit before we buy a house.” She had decided to change the topic and looked over at Ezra once more. “Are you going to want to come to all of my doctor’s visits? I can probably make a schedule or something. Im just hoping Hollis doesnt keep you away from me too much. Oh that reminds me…I’m suppose to meet with, um, oh! Ms. Sheffield about that photography job in about an hour. Did you want to tag along?”
Ezra sighed, looking down at his hands. Just when things get good for them, something always has to stir the pot. “I wouldn’t get hurt, Aria. I’m more scared for you rather than myself.” He walks over to the bed, sitting next to the girl. Facing her, he wipes the tears from her porcelain skin. The last thing he wanted to do was end the discussion, but it was the best choice to make with Aria’s well being at the top of his priority list. “Yes, yes we can stop talking about it.”
Aria looked at him, taking one of his hands. “I’m going to be okay, Ezra. I promise.” She leaned forward and kissed his lips softly. “Tell me more about what your job at Hollis will be like. Are you going to be okay being in the same place as my father?” But she knew Ezra didnt want to talk about Hollis. All he wanted was answers about A. Heaving a sigh, she looked down. “Youre not going to stop thinking about it are you?”
"Of course I know you care, Aria! I know you’re scared." Aria speaks the last part softly, stepping towards the girl. "All I want is for you to be safe and I don’t know how I can do that when you have a deadly stalker running around." Ezra pulls his hands to his face and slides them down, out of options. "I’m going to find out who this person is and put a stop to it."
Aria shook her head, pleading with the male. “Please, Ezra, don’t. You’re going to get hurt and I couldn’t live with myself if something happened to you because of it.” Another tear rolled down her cheek and she walked over to the bed, sitting down on the edge. All of this arguing wasn’t good for her and she started to feel more ill than she did before. “Can we please just…stop talking about this right now? I can’t handle this stress.” The brunette rested her hands in her lap, against her stomach.
"That was before I knew someone was trying to kill you!" Ezra yells. How could she be so blind to the fact that someone was attempting to murder her and the baby. "So what, you’re just going to sit around while our house is being robbed and our stuff is being destroyed. You aren’t going to do anything." It wasn’t a question; Ezra already knew the answer.
"It’s not like I can do anything, Ezra!" Aria turned on her heel, yelling right back at the male. He wasn’t getting it. He would never get it. "You’ve already seen what telling someone does. Stop talking to me like I don’t care about myself or this baby. Did you stop to think that maybe I’m scared? No, you didn’t.” She turned away, wiping her eyes when a tear finally fell.
"What?!" Ezra’s eyes widen in shock. "Aria, this isn’t someone just spreading gossip or stealing stuff. They are literally trying to kill all of you. Who would hate you this bad? What did you do?" Ezra looks away from Aria at up to the ceiling. What the hell is wrong with this town? "I think we need to leave Rosewood. It’s the only way that we can guarantee both your safety and the baby’s."
"Ezra, I can’t leave my family behind. You know this. You promised me that leaving Rosewood would only be a last resort if you didn’t get the job at Hollis. I don’t want to leave." Aria argued, getting up from the couch and walking over to the window, crossing her arms across her chest. "The only reason A hurt Hanna was because A didn’t want to be found out. We’re safe as long as we don’t fight back." She looked down at her feet.
"I hate feeling helpless!" Ezra exclaims, throwing his hands into the air. "All I want is to keep my family safe and some pathetic low life thinks this is all a game." Ezra paces back and forth, unsure of what to do. "Tell me everything. Everything and anything you know about A." Ezra rushes towards the couch, sitting down and pulling Aria’s hands into his.
Aria hated seeing Ezra upset - especially when she was partially the cause of it. She stared down at their hands, feeling tears come to her eyes, but she didn’t let them fall. Since A knew that Ezra knew, what harm could come to them now if she just told him everything? The brunette sniffled for a minute before speaking. “All I know is that A knows who killed Alison and they’ve been trying to pin the murder on us. They know every single secret about us and they use it against us. Every time we’ve gotten close to finding out who they are…” She shook her head. “Remember when you came to Mona’s party and I snuck away to meet you at your car? Hanna was hit by a car that night because A thought she saw them.”
Ezra stares down at the ripped photo, feeling tears brim at his eyes and anger fueling him. “I will not let this person hurt my family.” You could hear the venom dripping from his words. Anyone who knew Ezra Fitz would not have been able to recognize him at that very moment. “This is my mess now, Aria. You are my family, both of you.” He says, flickering his eyes down to her stomach.
Aria shook her head and swallowed harshly, pulling her feet up on the couch. “There’s nothing that we can do, Ezra. Even if we did call the police, what are they going to go on? This person has yet to be caught, so clearly they know how to stay off the radar.” She tried her hardest to convince him that there was nothing to be done. “If we tell anyone about this, A is going to do a lot more than just break into the apartment and take a photo. It’s going to be far more personal. Do you really want to take that risk?”
